Brandon planned this beautiful Santa Barbara Wedding proposal for his sweet girlfriend, Juliete, and it was such a beautiful moment to photograph and witness! He planned the proposal to be on the Santa Barbara pier and it turned out perfect! I followed them down the pier and when Brandon was ready to propose, I was right there to capture her reaction! And let me tell you, she was so happy and surprised!

Juliete of course said ABSOLUTELY YES and then Brandon’s family came running down the pier to celebrate with them! It was so much fun and the energy being around them was infectious! His family had balloons, funky glasses, photo props, the whole thing. They were a blast and such a fun family and were totally there to celebrate Brandon and Juliete’s special day!

How to plan the perfect surprise proposal

Surprise proposals have to be some of my FAVORITE sessions ever to photograph! They are so much fun to witness and no two session are the same. I thought it would be so helpful to add a few tips in case you are looking to plan a surprise proposal for your love! Below, you will find the top 2 questions I’d ask yourself when planning to propose!

Where to propose? My biggest tip here, is think about a special place you both love. Where is that special location? Maybe you love having picnics here, or you go back to where you had your first date, etc! Brainstorm this and decide what would make this moment special to you and your relationship.

Should you invite your friends and family? OK! This is a big question to ask yourself! Is your partner shy? Are they more introverted? These are important to think about because you want your partner to be super comfortable and expressing her feelings naturally instead of feeling shy and awkward. If you choose to not invite friends and family, you could always plan an engagement party back at home or surprise her with them showing up to dinner afterwards!
