Wedding flat lay photos are a beautiful and creative way to capture all the special details of your big day! These special photos are to showcase the little things that make your wedding unique, such as your wedding invitation, flowers, rings, and other sentimental items. Flat lay photos are becoming increasingly popular as a way to preserve the memories of a wedding so you always remember your big day! In this blog post, we’ll explore the art of creating stunning flat lay photos and offer tips and inspiration to help you get the most out of this fun wedding photography trend! Let’s dive into Miriam and Juan’s stunning Santa Barbara wedding day as we discuss all about flat lays!
Wedding flat lay photos are detailed creative shots taken of your wedding details that you paid a lot of money for! So let’s capture them so you can always look back on all of the special details from your wedding day. Some items to include in your flat lay photos are: invitation suite, perfume, all three rings, jewelry, something new something old something borrowed, any special details you might be wearing, vows, letters, cufflinks tie and shoes. These photos take about 45min-1hr to capture so make sure that it is set in your timeline or that you talk with me to make sure that time is set up to be completed.
I will bring all the pieces that you need to add to your wedding flat lay! Throughout the planning process and the questionnaires I will understand your style and theme just like we did with Miriam and Juan for their Santa Barbara wedding day. I will have the ring boxes, the plates, the additional pieces needed so please don’t spend extra money buying these. Obviously if there are added pieces you specifically want to buy (like an engraved Mrs. Box) then by all means do so and of course I will use it.
For your wedding flat lay photos, I start with a large layout of all your items, I will then get details of it all in that same layout. I then separate each item to get individual images of each item, while also making new arrangements for different shots and angles! They will show the design of the day. They will show off all the little details that you spent so much time and money on! Just like we did during this Santa Barbara wedding day with Miriam and Juan!
Please make sure to have a bag or box full of all your details. These photos take a bunch of time and I don’t want to waste your time or mine and want to start photographing these images right when I get there so everything stays on track! In the bag/box please have all three rings, perfume, invitation suite, and any other details you want captured. The mens details can be captured at their getting ready location unless you want it all incorporated together.
To elevate these creative shots we will use your florals from your day. Make sure you speak with your florist to have the flowers delivered before my arrival. They usually are all for including florals for the wedding flat lay you just have to ask. I also will be photographing your bouquet at this time so it is vital that they are ready to go by time I arrive. I also reach out to your florist but it is a good idea to mention this to them when you speak to them!
“My husband and I are so happy to have come across Alyssa Flores Photography early this year. We really liked her work and reached out. She responded fast and scheduled our video meeting, made us feel comfortable with her easygoing and friendly energy and did a great job in explaining all the details. We booked her for our engagement session and wedding. We were unsure about the location for our engagement session and she was so helpful by making recommendations based on the style and theme we wanted. She delivered our full engagement session gallery in less than 2 weeks. We loved our photos and were so excited to have her capture our wedding day.
Since the beginning, Alyssa kept great communication and was available for any questions or concerns that came up. She also helped us with creating our guestbook using our engagement photos. The guestbook is such great quality and the photos look crisp and beautiful. Leading up to the wedding, she shared a questionnaire with us that allowed for her to know our photography priorities. During the day of, she worked closely with our coordinator on the timeline. She made sure we felt great all while capturing everything and everyone that mattered to us. She delivered our wedding sneak peeks a few days after the wedding! Her turnaround time is the best! Her work ethic, personality, and communication make working with her so easy. We are so excited to see our full wedding gallery and to create our album. I will definitely be recommending Alyssa to all of my family and friends.”
