About Alyssa · California wedding photographer

Hi, I'm Alyssa!

I almost didn't become a photographer.

I'm a wife, a boy mom, and a follower of Jesus who gets to spend her weekends watching marriages begin. 300+ weddings later, I still can't believe this is my job.

Where it started

A tiny town, my aunt's camera, and shutter speed.

I grew up in a tiny town with a graduating class of 29. My aunt showed me how shutter speed worked on her DSLR, and that was it for me.

My senior project was on photography and how to build a business from it. I got the highest grade in my class, and I was so sure I knew exactly where my life was going.

Brooks Institute of Photography

Two days to leave.

I got into Brooks Institute of Photography in Ventura. I was one semester away from a chance to work alongside Annie Leibovitz when the school's owner went bankrupt. We had two days to leave. No degree, no plan, and credits that only transferred if I moved to San Francisco. That wasn't for me.

The in-between

Coffee, discipleship, and my high school sweetheart.

So I did a discipleship program. I managed a coffee shop in San Luis for a couple of years. I married my high school sweetheart and moved across the country, still not sure what God wanted me to do with my life.

An act of obedience

January 13, 2020.

I'd helped photograph my first wedding back in 2015, and I never stopped thinking about it. On January 13, 2020, I opened Alyssa Flores Photography. Not because I had it all figured out, but because I felt God telling me to go.

300+ weddings later, I still can't believe I get to do this.

Why my photos look the way they do

A bride once didn't book me because my skies weren't blue.

She was right.

For years I edited dark and muted. Greens weren't green, skies weren't blue, and honestly, a lot of people loved it. I built my whole business on it.

Then a bride passed on me because of those skies, and I couldn't argue with her. Her day deserved to look like her day.

So I changed everything. Now I edit true-to-tone, because I'm not going to change what God already made beautiful.

These are the photos your kids and grandkids will find one day, and they'll look exactly like your day felt.

Why I'm still here

Because I get to be in your corner on the biggest day of your life.

I believe marriage is one of the greatest gifts God gives us. Getting a front-row seat to it, over and over, is something I'll never take for granted.

I'm your extra set of hands

I've buttoned more dresses than I can count, tied plenty of ties, and I carry an emergency kit for the little things that go sideways.

Wedding guests smiling together

I see your guests too

I make sure every guest gets a photo. The aunt who flew in, your college roommate, your grandpa. They're part of your story.

I'm with you from our first call

I'll answer the questions you didn't know to ask yet, like how long family photos really take and when the light is best at your venue.

"Alyssa was an incredible presence on our wedding day. Her communication and organization made the entire experience easy and stress-free."
