Photoshoot Makeup Tips by Valeri Hall For Your Wedding and Engagement

Your wedding or engagement photoshoot is one of the most important moments in your life, and you want to look and feel your best! Your makeup can play a huge role in making you feel confident and ready for the camera, but it can also be a source of stress if you’re not sure where to start. That’s why having some makeup tips and tricks up your sleeve can be incredibly helpful in ensuring that you look and feel your best for your big day. In this blog, we’ll share some expert tips from makeup artist Valeri Hall on how to create a stunning makeup look for your wedding or engagement photoshoot that will make you feel confident and glowing!

Makeup Tip #1: Skin Prep

This is the most fun makeup tip! Get a couple of facials leading up to your wedding! Not only will it feel amazing you will also look AMAZING! To help with prepping your skin &/or get a derma-planing to help with a better makeup application while removing fuzz and dead skin!

“If you have never had a facial… At the minimum – I suggest getting a facial/dermaplaning done at least a
month prior to your wedding. So if your skin reacts or is allergic it will have time to heal prior to the wedding.” – Valeri Hall

Makeup Tip #2: Know Your Skin Type

Knowing your skin type is extremely important when it comes to prepping your skin for makeup. So, another big makeup tip is to know your skin type months prior to your wedding. That way you can start caring for it in advance and be glowing for your big day!

Makeup Tip #3: Come Bare Faced The Day Of Your Wedding

This is such an important makeup tip! Your face needs to be completely bare face and washed. No makeup, no tinted sunscreen, no mascara – NO MAKEUP. Make sure to wash your face fully before your appointment time. Have a schedule set and make sure your bridal party is ready to sit with a bare face at their appointment time.

Makeup Tip #4: Don’t Do Your Own Touch Ups

The last portion of these makeup tips is one of the most important! Once the makeup application is put on you can request changes. Make sure you and the bridal party don’t do their own touch-ups. If something is wrong or needs touchups then simply request the change from your artist. If you personally touched up your make up it is likely that the makeup artist will no longer make changes.

Client Love From Their Big Day

“Let me start off by saying Alyssa was a MUST have photographer on my list from the very beginning and I am so glad we decided on her. What I liked most when I found her on Facebook was how her photos look so effortlessly breath taking. I fell in love with the warm tones and the way she helped her couples pose to make it look natural and not forced or awkward. She brings a calm and fun vibe that was super helpful in getting comfortable for our engagement shoot, first. She was not only helpful in figuring out what style we wanted. She didn’t stop at just photos, I went to her for more that I even went to bridesmaids or family.

“The relationship built with Alyssa is genuine and so very much needed thru the process of planning a wedding. I will forever be grateful for her and recommend her to any bride I know or meet because when I say she was the absolute best, I mean it. She is THE BEST! :)” -Nadine Santos
